As a Maryland native, Dr. Julie Scanlon has an advanced education as a Doctor of Chiropractor with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. Her personal and innate ability to understand patient needs, helps her to respond with comprehensive approaches that are efficient, practical and unique to an individual needs. Dr. Scanlon is recognized for her thoroughness, flexibility an attention to detail.
Dr. Scanlon is certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. She was formally involved as a youth assistant weight training coach for football and women’s track teams. From 1997-2004, she was involved with Powerlifting USA’s Top 20 Women’s list. Her practice philosophy is “Health is a state of optimal physical, social and mental well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Dorland’s Medical Dictionary.
With Dr. Scanlon’s specialty in sports injuries, she is not only able to treat the area of injury or pain but she will emphasize on the adjacent areas to help restore proper muscle activation and progresses to sports specific training. For example, if someone has an injury in the knee area, she will treat the joint, ligament and muscle areas around the knee as well as the hip, lower back and foot. Our bodies move as one on each side, so it makes sense to examine all areas that help make the knee function.
